Perhaps not many know that, at one point, it was Blake Lively who saved Ryan Reynolds from severe depression.

This happened in the early 2010s. Before the actors met each other, they were involved in entirely different romances and even marriages.

The breakup from one of these relationships, however, marked the beginning of the most popular and cutest couple in Hollywood.

Blake Lively Came to Ryan Reynolds' Rescue

The couple of Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively is a shining example of how strong and faithful relationships can be.

The celebrities are not only happy together, but they also act in movies, raise four children, and genuinely celebrate every day spent together. But could you imagine that we might never see such a cute couple?

There's no need to be surprised, as about 15 years ago, Reynolds married Scarlett Johansson. Yes, on May 5, 2008, the star of Marvel's film series announced her engagement to her husband.

They got married on September 28. And, it seemed that they were living happily ever after. But what a disappointment it was for fans when on December 14, 2010, their breakup became public.

Needless to say, it was a blow for the "Deadpool" star. While it was his first marriage, it was already the second serious relationship that ended in nothing. Devastated, he began thinking he might never want to get married again.

"I'm very happy in my relationship status at the moment," Reynolds reassured everyone around him, considering the whole concept of dating foreign to him.

"We Were Friends for a Long Time"

Fortunately, he was very wrong. Furthermore, it was Blake Lively who saved Ryan Reynolds from such thoughts. But let's not jump ahead. Their meeting took place on the set of the movie "Green Lantern."

At first, there was no talk of romance. Besides, the actress was in a relationship with her "Gossip Girl" co-star Penn Badgley at the time.

"We were friends for a long time. And I think that's the best way to start a relationship. To begin as friends," Ryan reminisces about that time.

To his own surprise, he fell in love with Blake. Soon, they had their first date. And just 11 months later, they happily and lovingly tied the knot.

But how did Lively save him, you might ask. In reality, it's not just about kindred souls. The actress taught him to be more sensitive. And Ryan himself admitted that his wife responds to anger and hatred with empathy.

By the way, thanks to her, Ryan was able to reconcile with his father before his passing in 2015. "She forced me to remember all the good things between me and my dad."
