Most likely, you have noticed that your cat has managed to sleep in all possible places in the apartment. This is usually a windowsill, a soft sofa, an armchair, a chest of drawers, and even the floor.

They like to lie down in the middle of the room, so that they can keep an eye on everything. Nothing can be done about it, they are like that by nature.

However, one question arises: why do cats constantly change their sleeping place? Surely there is a special reason for doing so.

In fact, there may be several reasons. The most basic and common is natural instincts. Thanks to them, cats in their natural habitat survive.

The thing is that if you always sleep in the same place, a potential predator will quickly find you, and you won't be able to escape. But if you constantly change your place of rest, your safety increases many times over.

In addition, the smell does not persist, which animals notice very well, especially if you always lie in the same place. Although apartment cats are not in any danger, they still prefer to rely on their natural instincts.

Cold or heat

They can also be forced to constantly change their sleeping place. If the heating season hasn't started yet, and the apartment is cold, then of course the cat will climb higher, where it is warmer. Conversely, if the cat is hot, it will trade all its favorite places for a cool floor.

An unexpected shock

If you have recently moved, or something unexpected and loud has happened, your cat may become stressed.

For years, domestic cats get used to the same environment in the house, to certain people, and if something changes dramatically, it will have its consequences. In this case, the cat will constantly look for a new place for peace and solitude.

Master of his territory

Cats consider the place where they live to be their personal property. This is their territory, where only they have the right to be, and in no case will they tolerate other individuals.

In order to mark their territory, they rub themselves against the corners of the apartment, scratch the furniture, and in every possible way appropriate everything in the house, including you.

For the avoidance of doubt, they will lie in certain places to leave as much of their scent as possible, and then they will change them for the same purpose.

Safety

As mentioned above, it's all about natural instincts. Cats are predators that feed on small prey in their natural habitat, but at the same time, they can easily become a victim for larger ones.

Subconsciously, this gives them a good impetus in understanding how to hunt properly in order not only to have a hearty meal, but also to stay alive.

That's why even domestic cats regularly change their sleeping place, even though there is no danger. It is impossible to turn off the instincts that have been created since the cat itself appeared.
