However, after some time, we discovered that pet care in Italy is very expensive.
The search for a suitable kitten took several weeks. But one day, we noticed a cat with kittens.
As reported: Fakta.today
Two women were taking care of them. They had built a small shelter for the animals and provided them with food.
The kitten we chose was very small and sick. Most likely, it was only about a month old.
We took her to the vet, who prescribed treatment after the examination.
The consultation with the vet and the treatment were costly:
Vet visit - 15 euros;
Eye ointment for conjunctivitis - 12 euros;
Parasite treatment drops - 32 euros;
Cream for fungal infections and ringworm - 10 euros.
We also bought:
Cat carrier - 3.5 euros;
Silica gel cat litter - 3.5 euros;
Kitten food (KiteKat 300g) - 1.10 euro;
Food and water bowl - 1.50 euros.
So, in the first two days, we spent 79 euros.
We didn't expect that taking a street kitten would require such an expense.
Additionally, I was certain that mixed-breed cats are more affectionate than purebreds. But I was mistaken.
Initially, the kitten was affectionate and adorable. However, after a month and a half, the kitten completely changed.
It grew up, healthy, and active.
With age, though, her hyperactive mixed-breed nature started to manifest. She jumps to the highest places in the house. Training measures don't help.
She also scatters food from the bowl.
Thus, we have to spend a lot of time constantly cleaning up.
Moreover, Lolla, that's what we named the cat, constantly tries to get to our parrot Louis. So we have to keep raising his cage higher.
Lolla also constantly tries to escape from the house; it seems like she doesn't want to live with us.
So, I started to think that maybe she should be released back on the street. In the three months she has been with us, we have grown to love her, so we hope that she will change.
Perhaps there will be some changes once we have her spayed.
